Frequently asked questions
Why isn't a channel's ID just its @handle or URL?
YouTube handles and custom URLs (@name, /c/name, /user/name) can be changed by the channel owner at any time, but every channel also has a permanent, unchangeable ID starting with "UC" assigned when it was created. Tools, APIs, and integrations that need a stable reference to a channel — RSS feeds, third-party analytics, embed codes — require this real ID, not the handle.
How does this tool find the ID without a YouTube API key?
Every YouTube channel page embeds its own real channel ID directly in its page source — in the canonical link tag and in the page's structured metadata. This tool fetches that page and reads it directly, the same information your browser already loads every time you visit a channel.
What can I paste in — does it have to be a full URL?
A full channel URL in any format (/channel/UC..., /@handle, /c/name, /user/name) works, and so does typing just the handle on its own (with or without the @).
What is the RSS feed URL for a channel, now that I have the ID?
https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UC... — replace the ID with the one found above.
