Frequently asked questions
How is this calculated?
Estimated monthly views (average views per video × videos per month) are multiplied by an RPM range — revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube's roughly 45% cut — typical for the niche you select. Different niches see very different ad rates because advertisers pay more to reach some audiences than others.
Why is there such a big range between low and high?
RPM genuinely varies that much in the real world, even within one niche, based on viewer country, time of year (rates rise sharply in Q4), video length and mid-roll ad placement, and how many viewers skip ads. A wide honest range is more useful than a single confident-sounding number that happens to be wrong.
Does this include Shorts revenue, memberships, or sponsorships?
No — this estimates standard long-form ad revenue only. Shorts pays out through a separate, generally much lower RPM pool, and channel memberships, Super Chat, and brand sponsorships are entirely separate income that this calculator doesn't attempt to estimate.
Do I need 1,000 subscribers to earn anything?
To run ads at all, a channel needs to be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program, which currently requires 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in the past year or 10 million Shorts views in the past 90 days. This calculator assumes that threshold is already met.
